Biosafety training

Biosafety and biosecurity

Objectives of the biosafety training

  • To develop skills in the fields of biosafety and biosecurity (knowledge).
  • To ensure that concepts and practices related to specific topics in the fields of biosafety and biosecurity are mastered (know-how).
  • Implementing good practice in handling biological materials in the laboratory (know-how).

Means and teaching methods

LAB’SCIENCE Academy organises theoretical and hands-on training sessions taking place in a classroom setting, where lectures and active methods (participative, demonstrative, questioning) are used alternately.
Exercises, scenarios and case studies are used to apply the knowledge.

– Our training courses are organised in a fully equipped training room (video projector, paperboard, laser pointer, speaker/sound system), in compliance with the regulations in terms of accessibility, hygiene and safety, including those for disabled people.
– For our practical workshops, we make sure to use a laboratory area.

Prerequisites for biosafety training

Our training courses are aimed at laboratory professionals in the fields of health, research and industry (pharmaceutical, food, agri-food).
No specific knowledge or prerequisites in biosafety or biosecurity are required, unless defined during the customisation of the biosafety training.

Target audience

Any person who has to work with pathogenic micro-organisms or is confronted with a professional situation related to a risk of microbiological contamination:

TECHNICAL DIVISION: USERS, MANIPULATORS
(TECHNICIANS, RESEARCHERS, TRAINEES);
SUPPORT, MANAGEMENT OR SUPERVISORY DIVISIONS
(BIOLOGICAL SAFETY MANAGERS, TEAM MANAGERS, HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT MANAGERS).

Evaluation of the course

Assessment of the knowledge acquired is carried out at the end of each day, in the form of questions, exercises and discussions, to ensure that the concepts have been correctly understood.
A training certificate is issued at the end of the course.
